A Boat Journey
04:34
|
|||
she always thought about the way the waves formed
while on the shore the town looked fast asleep
she'd often rest her hands upon the guard rail
and think about a time she might find peace
her sorrow was complete
and she has nothing to show
and she has nowhere left to go
she knew to be alone would bring its dangers
the vessel pitched and rocked way out at sea
and who could tell what dark shapes lay beneath her
through all the doubts and troubles of her dreams
her sorrow was complete
and she has nothing to show
and she has nowhere left to go
and in her mind she's unsure
and in her heart she's so alone

Maggie
04:28
|
|||
Paper spheres untethered hang
in sequinned velvet infinite mirage
Flames like feathered fingers play
the strings of an infatuated heart
Effervescing voices dance
an avalanche of memories undead
Maggie knows the secret mushroom fields
and where the pussy willows grow
Whispers softly breathe daydreams into my mind
Steeped in copper sunlight, flowers awaken
The wooden man is wearing a black cloud
it rains the colours of his pain
Venus shades her eyes from Mercury
fills the room with honey bees
Whispers softly breathe daydreams into my mind
Steeped in copper sunlight, flowers awaken
Transcend emotion, learn to feel nothing
Atoms coalesce, we are each other now
Back to front, inside out, upside down

A Sign
03:31
|
|||
if there were a way out you wouldn't take it
a spine of rocks
the cold stones hold nothing but ghosts and water
a sign we lost
you'd never let me slip away
you'd only take me over
if I needed helping you wouldn't help me
you'd travel on
the sky could freeze right over and we'd be stranded
locked in ice

No More Tests
03:29
|
|||
the animals know something that we don't
they smell it in the pipelines forced down their throats
we can't expect to live
some of them live for a little more
the rest of us dig down to the planet's core
we can't afford to lose like that
in the bleakness of the morning no one looks alive
with their shreds of vague ambition hanging by their sides
and you try to shake the feeling that you need some help
but when you look into the mirror it's not you, it's someone else
and you turn away while the work around you carries on
and you're losing face because there's no one to rely on
and you hold your tongue but suddenly you're silenced
how could you reason your way out of this?
we can't afford to lose
